With summer weather in full swing, it’s time to pull out that fresh (or frozen) fruit and transport yourself to somewhere a little more tropical. If you’re anything like me, sometimes you want something sweet and refreshing to clear your mind after a long day of work. This boozy fruit smoothie recipe is perfect for those hot summer days.
Living in downtown Toronto, Adrian and I love to spend our evenings on our patio. However, with our patio facing the sunset, things can get a little heated during the evenings.
While reaching for a nice glass of chilled wine or ice water often fixes that problem, sometimes I want something with just a little more flavour.
This smoothie not only cures my sweet tooth, but it’s also so easy to make. If you’re in a hurry, or just lazy, you can blend this bad boy with frozen fruit.
If you want something a little more natural, swap out some of those freezer burnt berries for some fresh produce.
Either way, this smoothie will come out delicious.
Here’s What You Need To Make This Boozy Fruit Smoothie Recipe:
- 2 shots of your favourite Rum
- 3 cups of pulp-free orange juice (You can add more if you want your smoothie less thick)
- 2 cups of frozen berries or tropical blend
- Half of a banana (frozen or fresh)
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
- 1/2 cup of vanilla yogurt
*Frozen fruit can be substituted to 2 cups of fresh fruit such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, mango etc.
Combine all of the ingredients in a blender, mix together on high, and pour!
Don’t have a blender? No problem. Adrian and I have had to become creative when attempting to make this recipe at Airbnbs or friends. Food processors and hand mixers will also usually do the trick!
This boozy fruit smoothie recipe makes enough for one, but don’t be afraid to double, or even triple the recipe to serve more!
