6 Of The Best Wineries In Prince Edward County

Ontario is filled with tons of hidden gems across the province that are just waiting to be explored. From wineries in Niagara on the Lake to Peele Island, the possibilities of wine to explore across the province seem endless. While we have been to wine counties across the country in search of the best glass of red, one of our favourite places to go for a weekend getaway is in Prince Edward Country. If you’re looking for some of the best wineries in Prince Edward Country, there are tons to choose from, but of course, we’ve narrowed it down to some of our favourites.

It’s impossible for Adrian and I to be in the area without stopping at some of these hidden gems and buying a few bottles to enjoy at home. From a cool glass of rose during those hot summer months to the oaky red that we enjoy so much in the winter, the possibilities are endless.

One of our favourite features that continues to draw us to the beautiful area is how ‘homegrown’ it always seems to be. While some wineries across Canada feature a more industrial and business feel, a lot of the estates in Prince Edward County are family-owned.

As two people who often find ourselves exploring wine as a hobby, Adrian and I love to be able to talk to the actual people behind the wine, and we absolutely love how local these spots feel.

From the middle of winter to the height of summer, these are some of the best places to escape to taste some bubbly.

Broken Stone Winery

Broken Stone Winery is by far, one of our favourite places to go when we are in the county. The quaint estate not only boasts amazing red and whites but it also holds some of the best memories we have had while exploring the area.

The family-owned business is run by some of the most passionate people we have met. Every time we step foot into this adorable barn we are able to learn more about the hard work the family has put into making some of the best wine that we have tasted.

Huff Estates

When it comes to some of the best wineries in Prince Edward County, Huff Estates definitely comes out on top. Equipped with a wood-fired pizza oven and a patio, this is the perfect place to stop if you are looking for a bite to eat to enjoy with your glass of wine.

Adrian and I often find ourselves stopped at this estate half-way through the day for a quick lunch break, before taking on the rest of our afternoon.

Waupoos Estates Winery

If you are getting bored with just hopping from winery to winery, Waupoos Estates is a great place to stop. While the estate boasts beautiful wine as well as a farm to table restaurant, it also offers a variety of other features to keep you entertained throughout the afternoon.

The winery also offers a petting zoo, Chocolatier and walking trails on the waterfront.
