If you’re missing outdoor tastings, but don’t want to freeze your ass off this winter, 13th Street in Niagara has come up with the perfect solution.
Just off the QEW, this local spot is currently serving up flights of wine that you can enjoy by your very own personal fire pit.
For $45 a person (or $30 for wine club members) you will get to choose from and sample four of their premium wines while cozied up by the flame.
Each fire pit can fit up to eight people, and the tasting will last an hour and a half. While the winery does take walk-ins when possible, you can book in advance on their website.
If you’re looking for something a little more casual, you can also grab a glass of wine and enjoy it at a table or public fire pits scattered around the winery. However, it is important to note that it’s first come first serve.
On Saturdays, 13th Street in Niagara also serves up some mouthwatering poutine that you can enjoy with your vino. For the month of January, the special is Late Harvest Riesling glazed and smoked short rib poutine with a creamy blue cheese sauce and crispy fried onions Yum!
You can end your visit with something a little sweet, try out their local bakery that serves endless supplies of butter tarts, brownies and other baked goods. (The Ice Wine Butter Tart is this month’s special)
However, this isn’t the only spot that is getting creative with outdoor tastings. Konzlemann Estates will let you roast s’mores by an open flame and even comes with a blanket that you can take home.
While Wayne Gretzky Estates has a new fireside cabana rental that will transport you to a mini-winter vacation. You can enjoy complimentary hot chocolate with whisky cream and even skate around their ice rink.
