It’s not just old houses and graveyards that are full of unwelcome creatures. Some of your favourite vineyards are also said to have a ghost or two. In fact, there are some haunted Ontario wineries that have stories so spooky, you can’t help but shiver.

Next time you’re out in wine county, you might not be alone. Multiple guests across the province have reported seeing strange orbs and floating figures at some of these spots.

Whether or not these paranormal spottings were the result of a little too much wine is still unknown, but we’ll leave that up to you to figure out.

Peller Estates Winery (Niagara)

Situated near the grounds of the War of 1812, many believe that this popular tourist attraction is actually haunted by soldiers.

Some have even claimed they have seen men wandering around in uniform throughout the property. Scuffling feet and knocking are also common sounds that are heard at this estate.

Both the grounds and cellars are reported to be hotspots for this paranormal activity.

Henry of Pelham Estate Winery (St. Catharines)

Dating back to the 1790s, this spot is not only home to a winery, but also a Loyalist cemetery. However, it seems that not all of the spirits have been laid to rest.

Footsteps, laughter and the smell of tobacco have all been reported by guests of the estate. Yet, sounds aren’t the only paranormal events to take place here.

Some even say that they have spotted a figure leaning against one of the outside walls, who disappears almost as quickly as he was spotted.

Inniskillin Winery (Niagara)

While this story is less spooky than the rest, it is still considered a haunted spot in the Niagara region.

Multiple visitors and employees have reported unexplained orbs in their photos both inside and outside of the venue. These spots are so bright that they often ruin pictures.

While most are only caught on film, some have also reported seeing these glowing balls in person.

By Chadsey’s Cairns Winery (Wellington)

An old cemetery rests on the property of this Prince Edward County spot and the owner still might be wandering the grounds.

Ira Chadsey, born in 1828, always told his family that he would one day return to the land as a white stallion after his days of living were over.

After his wife died, Chadsey took his own life with a gun, falling into a blazing fire where nothing was left of his body.

Several years later, a white stallion was spotted roaming throughout the old cemetery.

Vineland Estates Winery (Vineland)

Humans aren’t the only ones that can haunt winery grounds. This spooky spot has reports of a more furrier ghost.

While it is unclear why the dog is roaming the property, many have reported seeing the large dark creature, while others have heard sounds of howling or footsteps.

Some even report that they can feel something furry brushing their leg when nothing is in sight.

Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery (St. Davids)

Parts of this estate were burnt down to the ground during the War of 1812 and it wasn’t rebuilt again until 1815.

Now, some report seeing a woman floating around in all white, while others say they hear strange nosies coming from the cellar.
