This Stunning Beach In PEC Has One Of The World’s Largest Sand Dunes

It’s time to get your tan on at this stunning beach in PEC. Sandbanks Provincial Park is home to the world’s largest baymouth barrier sand dune and it will transport you somewhere tropical.

Jutting out into the beautiful waters of Lake Ontario, the sandy shores of these beaches are some of the best you will find in Canada. With towering sand towers, it’s the perfect photo opportunity.

The sand isn’t the only thing to look at though, you can also gaze out at the endless blue waters that look like they belong in a vacation destination.

There are three separate beaches in the park and Outlet Beach is the best one for families with shallow waters and a gentle drop-off.

The other two beaches are Sandbanks and Dunes. However, the park warns that Dunes Beach has a steep drop-off and swimmers should use extra caution while visiting.

While there are no official routes, you can also take your canoe out onto the water to explore the marsh (Canoes and kayaks are available for rent).

There are also some popular fishing lakes around the park as well and are popular for Yellow Pickerel, Smallmouth, Largemouth Bass, and Northern Pike.

Once you’re done splashing around there are also walking trails that allow visitors to experience the dune and wetland habitats of the park. This spot is also a bird migration hotspot in spring and fall, so make sure to look up to the sky!

If you’re looking to turn your stay into a weekend trip, there are also cottages at the park that are available to rent. You can book through the Ontario Parks website.
