Are OSAP changes justified?

The political hot potato that is OSAP landed and exploded in the hands of Doug Ford’s progressive conservative government this year. In a bid to decrease the province’s 15 billion dollar deficit, sweeping changes have been made to the way students receive funding for post-secondary education. The results are not yet in of exactly how students are affected as the changes will not apply until the September 2019 enrolment period, but the debate of whether these changes and in some cases “cuts,” are warranted has been a heated debate.

Allysha, someone passionate that education is a right and not a privilege, and Adrian, a college dropout with a more pragmatic attitude towards government spending, debate with opposing political views about whether these changes are for the best for Ontarians.
