If you’re getting tired of the same old pub food, it’s time to transport yourself to Mexico at this street patio. La Reina, a Mexican restaurant in Guelph, has a menu full of mouth-watering tacos and cocktails that will whisk you away to somewhere a little warmer. So grab yourself a margarita and drink the summer away at this cute spot.
Thanks to Guelph’s new patio program, this food joint has taken over the streets of downtown.
With a new expansive outdoor space, the glowing lights and colourful umbrellas will make you feel like you’ve stepped into somewhere a little more tropical.
The Mexican joint prides itself on creating an “authentic experience start to finish,” and every bite you take will be better than the last.
Opened Tuesday to Sunday, the menu offers tacos, burritos and quesadillas. My favourite plate was the Pastor Taco which came with shaved pork, pineapple, white onion, avocado salsa, cilantro and lime.
If you’re vegetarian, you can also grab the Vegetariano, which comes with roasted brussels sprouts, oyster mushrooms, pickled onion, salsa taquera and toasted pecans.
Of course, no meal is complete with out a beverage, and this local spot has tons of choices. You can choose from a variety of draughts and bottles when it comes to their beer selection.
If you’re more of a cocktail gal, the Pineapple Express and Margarita Classica are both great choices.
This location also offers a featured cocktail, which is always my go to whenever I’m there.
If you’re looking to have more of a night in, the location also offers a take out menu, where you can get your own DIY taco kit.
Currently, the venue isn’t taking reservations and the patio is first come, first served. If the tables are full upon time of arrival, you can be added to the waitlist.
